In Volume III of his The Earth Chronicles series, The Wars of Gods and Men (Bear & Co., 1992) Zecharia Sitchin has quoted, in English translation, ancient Sumerian texts that describe in vivid detail how, in round about 8,760 B.C., the god Ninurta entered for the first time into the Great Pyramid at Giza and went into the Grand Gallery, which "glittered in multicoloured lights" - "its vault is like a rainbow, the darkness ends there". These many-hued brilliances, Sitchin goes on to explain, "were emitted by twenty-seven pairs of diverse crystal stones that were evenly spaced along the whole length of each side of the Gallery. These glowing stones were placed in cavities that were precisely cut into the ramps that ran the length of the Gallery on both sides of its floor. Firmly held in place by an elaborate niche in the wall, each crystal stone emitted a different radiance, giving the place its rainbow effect" (op.cit., p.169).
Although the names of all twenty-seven mineral species were carefully recorded by the Mesopotamian scribe, breaks in the surviving clay-tablets mean that nowadays even those few scholars able to read them can only learn the names of twenty-two of these clearly very special crystals. Ninurta ordered many of them to be smashed to pieces and reduced to smithereens, so that their controlling power might no longer be available to the unscruplous; he arranged for others to be given to one of his fellow gods and allies in war, Shamash, for use in their new Mission Control Centre, which we know as Jerusalem; the rest he had taken aways as trophies to his own cult-centre at Nippur in Mesopotamia - and all of this Ninurta did, he said, for the sake of "peace" - Shalom!
Crystal power is, therefore, as well as being something of a mixed blessing, undoubtedly one of the most ancient traditions on the planet. Indeed, some believe laser-wand quartz crystals come from outer space; others that some crystals called Elestials are like time-capsules and contain recordings of all the detailed history of vanished races and civilizations.
In Western society today, however, crystal power is relatively new, crystal power is advancing, and crystal power is reaching the parts other forms of healing cannot reach, e.g., in treating AIDS, in curing cancer, etc. [Cf Jane & Grant Solomon, Harry Oldfield's Invisible Universe - The Story of One Man's Search for the Healing Methods that will help us survive the 21st century, London: Thorsons, 1998.] It is, therefore, useful as well as interesting to meditate on this brighter, lighter and more colourful future into which crystal healing is helping us to make a gradual, modest but very definite advance.

With apologies for one or two inaccuracies it contains (since it was only later that I came to know about such matters as the detonation of seven atom bombs in the Sinai Peninsual in the days of Abraham, in the sixth year of the reign of Ibbi-Sin, last king of Ur, in 2024 B.C.), the following is the almost complete (and minimally updated) text of an A5-sized explanatory leaflet I prepared towards the end of the '80's and distributed quite widely both in the West Country and in the Home Counties, while working to promote a very much down-scaled late-20th-century version of The Rainbow Programme from my new home at Creativity House, Exeter, with the help of the then Government's Enterprise Allowance Scheme, shortly before Crafty Cakes, which is now very well established close by in Cowick Street, first opened there:

THE RAINBOW PROGRAMME - Our Universe is nowadays believed to have come into existence some 15,000,000,000 years ago, planet Earth about 5,000,000,000 years ago, and human life 5,000,000 years ago. Our modern calendar partly derives from one the Ancient Egyptians introduced in 4240 B.C., and the woman Pharaoh Hatshepsuit proclaimed her own divinity shortly after 1474 B.C. The male Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment in 544 B.C. Jesus Christ was born in 6 B.C. The first atomic explosion occurred in 1945 A.D. The quantity of electromagnetic radiation within our environment is about 200,000,000 times greater than it was a relatively short time ago. Because everything is in resonance and vibration, the Rainbow Programme concerns the entire planet, but Colin Hamer is convinced that Beauty and Personal Freedom are supreme values. At the heart of the Rainbow Programme we find, therefore, Attunement, Education and Initiation in the service of the complete spectrum of love:

THE ELECTRONIC CADUCEUS - Health is a Rainbow - Cosmic Rejuvenation using the Electronic Caduceus... is currently being considered for publication. North American Indian as well as Tibetan Shamans attach great value to untouched Natural Quartz Crystals. These also symbolise perfectly the Ancient Chinese ideal of the Marriage of Earth with Heaven, since Crystals were considered as frozen Sunlight or Water from Heaven. Crystals are mentioned frequently in the Old and New Testament. Used as aids in meditation, prayer, healing, scrying and natural magic for thousands of years, and prized in many cultures as fitting adornments for Queens, Prophets, High Priests, and Kings, Modern Science has confirmed the marvellous power of Crystals to sooth, to energise, to transform, preserve, transmit and receive... In 1986 an important series of documentary tele-films had its first showing on British television. It was about recent research into the healing effects of electromagnetic radiation. a number of medical doctors who acknowledged the existence of what psychics and spiritual healers call the human aura had been able, without using drugs or causing any pain, to cure patients suffering from otherwise inoperable and hopeless conditions, simply by bringing about appropriate changes within what whould appear to be either the auric field itself, or at least its physically measurable bio-electromagnetic concomitants.
Dr. Valerie Hunt's American Government sponsored research at the Bioenergy Fields Laboratory in Malibu, California, has deservedly attracted the attention of medical specialists in various countries, including England and Russia, and has provided firm scientific evidence for the existence of a field of bio-electromagnetic energies in and around the human body. What psychic healers call the human aura can now be photgraphed and even put on video quite easily.
In the Gaia Resonator low-amperage pulsations from a high-voltage coil are used to make crystals attached to the Electronic Caduceus vibrate at selected frequencies, thus superimposing the electronically induced carefully selected and accurately contolled natural vibrations of resonating gems or semi-precious stones onto the various rhythms of our bio-electromagnetic field, including the brain-wave patterns of persons subject to its influence. Thus, with the Caduceus tuned to Beta rhythms, the Resonator encourages brightness and alertness; set to Delta, it brings on drowsiness and deep sleep. In normal conditions, its influence is attractive and persuasive, however, rather than compulsive; it does not, in my experience, inhibit freedom:

These frequencis are applicable in all single-channel models of the Electronic Caduceus, but, when a 7-channel model is used, the specific frequency selected is, as such, that of the Resonator containing sapphires, and the seven separate Resonators are automatically harmonised with each other in the ratio 4 : 6 : 10 : 12 : 16 : 96 : 960 for Rubies, Pearls, Coral, Emeralds, Topaz, Diamonds and Sapphires respectively.
The first 7-channel Electronic Caduceus was completed just before Christmas, 1988, and was delivered... on 4 January 1989; it is constructed from gem-stones, computer components and acrylic tubing, and in many ways resembles the fabulous Staff of Mercury, which features on my letterhead, and from which it takes its name... With the outputs set to a low level of intensity, one can just drift with, or in and out of very pleasant sensations. If tired, one can fall into a state of dream ecstasy and trance - waves of bliss and physical unification sweep un and down one's body; the pleasure extends from the feet and below, to the top of the head and above. Details and recommendations for therapeutic use of the Caduceus are separately available."
Much water has flowed under the bridge since I first drafted that text and, the grape-vine being what it is, there would be little point in my entering in any specific details here about the various comments I have since heard about this and related issues from a number of internationally known as well as professionally qualified persons with direct relevant experience. The human race has now crossed the threshold of Hope into a New Millennium, so that NOW is the moment for all of us to move on...
Indeed, if Zecharia Sitchin and Maurice Cotterell are correct, we also have quite a lot of catching up to do. In his most recent book, which I mentioned earlier, the latter writes: "Those who radiate light (144,000) from their foreheads, represent the chosen few who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This is not new. Throughout history the nimbus, or halo, has identified the pure of spirit. Indian and Tibetan teachings maintain that the true mystic radiates light from the head. This is enabled through the sustained practice of intellectual meditation, which allows the endocrine centres within the body, the chakra centres, to reach equilibrium... (op.cit., p.164.)
