In 1935, when Angelo Roncalli, later to become Pope John XXIII, was in service as Apostolic Delegate in Turkey, a series of extraordinary experiences culminated in his enunciation of a series of prophecies during a special meeting of the secret society into which he had just been initiated. Detailed minutes of that meeting were made by the society's Chancellor at the time, and in 1966 about 20% of these, covering the period 1935 to 2033, were made available to the well known Italian journalist, Pier Carpi, then 26 years old, who studied them with interest. His related book was published by Edizioni Mediterranee (Rome) in 1972.
Prophecies already accomplished about the sufferings, persecution, spiritual renewal and mystical triumphs of and schism within the Church, and about both the erection and dismantling of the Berlin Wall, may incline the reader to wonder if John's vision of a woman U.S. President, a penitent Pope's pilgrimage to China, a united Europe - and of the city of Rome transformed into a desert, will also come to pass?
