Games theory was first developed by Johann von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern in 1944 in their monumental study, Theory of Games and Economic Behaviour. However, theirs is not the best available approach to an understanding of the dynamics of group-process. "Slides" is a CIA term for a conditioned type of response which dead-ends a person's thinking and terminates debate or examination of the subject at hand. We are all probably acquainted with someone or other who appears to be congenitally incapable of sustaining any detailed and detached, objective discussion of any subject on which he or she happens to have a personal opinion. Such people help us to learn the value of patience, not by any means always an easy virtue to acquire.
